NOW HIRING FOR SHEARING ASSISTANT
Job Description:
This is a seasonal independent contractor position that begins at the end of February and ends typically at the end of June.
It involves a lot of travel, beginning in Florida in February and ending in Maine in June.
The open position is for a shearing assistant (referred to in the industry as a headman/headwoman) who’s duties include but are not limited to: catching up animals, assisting in moving and lifting animals, holding and positioning the animals during shearing, and keeping the animals and shearer safe.
For the right candidate, this job will also provide the opportunity of learning how to shear, and when proficient, shearing animals themselves.
Compensation:
Pay is based on number of animals and number of stops. Currently, that is looking to be around $25K for the 4 month season.

All food, lodging, and travel is provided.

Tips are split 50/50.
​
Gain experience working with a professional shearer and learning about the skill and the industry.

Skills/Requirements:

Must be able to comfortably lift 100 lbs.

Experience with large animals is a huge plus, but not required.

Being comfortable around large animals is required.

Must be able to show up with a good attitude, ready to work!
